Tuition fees in USA for international students 2022

If you want to study in the USA, it's obvious that you would want to know the average cost of studying in USA for international students. Having knowledge of the estimated cost for your tuition, accommodation, feeding, books, etc in the USA for international students would help you plan your budget properly. But if that's not your priority but you need a US green card instead, here's how to go from F1 student to Green card to Citizenship.

However, it's not an easy thing to determine the cost of studying in the USA for international students because there are so many factors to consider.

First of all, let me talk about the factors that determine the cost of studying in the USA for international students, after which I'll talk about the money involved.

The factors that determine the cost of studying in the USA for international students include:-

a). The rank of the university or college where you want to study

All schools in the USA are not rated equally. There are top universities such as Harvard, Princeton, MIT and there are medium ranked universities, and finally those on the lower rank. Of course, just like everything else you want to pay for, the top universities are more expensive. But it doesn't necessarily mean that they're always the best.

b). The state and city you'll live

A place like New York city has good public transportation system, while some other cities may not. So, a student studying in New York city would find it easier to move around. Yet, the cost of accommodation is higher in New York city than some other cities.

c). The course or program you want to study

Art and humanities courses or programs are generally less expensive, whereas science courses or programs are more expensive.

d. Whether you'll live in campus or off campus

Living in campus may be cheaper than renting your own apartment off campus, unless you want to co-habit with other students in your rented apartment.

e) Whether you're studying in a government school (public school) or community school or private school

Community colleges are owned by the county or community. Public schools are owned by the state government. Private schools are owned by individuals.

Public schools are cheap but community colleges are the cheapest. Private schools are more expensive than both.

f). The duration of your course or program

Some courses or programs may last for a few months, while others may last for a year to four years. Some students may also opt for extended stay by applying for optional practical training (OPT) at the end of the initial course or program. Others may even apply to temporarily work in the USA by changing their visa status to H-1B visa.

Considering the above, you can agree that it won't be easy to just say it would cost XYZ amount to study in the USA because, again, there are so many factors to consider.

Therefore, what I'll do instead is to give you an estimate or the average cost of studying in the USA with all things considered.
